The team at Lay Trang Diving are our pick if you’re looking to really dial in your dive skills or even go pro. We’ve seen them develop some incredibly solid divers from Open Water all the way up through Instructor Development. They operate out of both Koh Lanta and Phi Phi, which is a great bonus, giving you easy access to a huge range of dive sites depending on the conditions and what you’re hoping to see. What we really appreciate about Lay Trang is their consistent emphasis on small groups, even for advanced courses. We’ve been on boats with them where the other operators are packing divers in, but Lay Trang keeps it intimate. This means more one-on-one time with instructors and a much calmer experience underwater, particularly at busy sites like Hin Daeng and Hin Muang. Their boats are comfortable too, not flashy, but well-maintained, with plenty of shade and space to spread out between dives. We’d suggest chatting with them directly about current conditions; they’re always honest about visibility and currents, which can shift a lot depending on the season.
