KTD - Koh Tao Divers - Koh Tao
The team at KTD - Koh Tao Divers are the island’s quiet legends. They’ve been here since ‘87, practically invented diving on Koh Tao, and found most of the sites we all now love. These days, they’re still under Finnish ownership and running an incredibly slick operation, but without any of the big-resort fuss. We especially love KTD for divers who are serious about their training, whether that’s finally tackling a deep speciality, or going all-in for tech or CCR. Walk into their main space and you immediately feel that calm, competent vibe – it’s serious diving, but with a smile. The classrooms are well-organised, gear kitting-up areas are spacious, and the boats are properly set up for divers, not just tourists. Our favourite thing about KTD, though, is their dive guides. These folks know the local waters like the back of their hand; they’ll spot a tiny banded sea snake tucked away in a crevice at White Rock or find the elusive batfish school at Chumphon Pinnacle. You’ll get detailed briefings and thorough safety checks, something we always appreciate. Plus, with the sheer number of dive sites they’ve explored, they often know where to go to escape the crowds, which is a huge bonus on Koh Tao’s busier days. If you’re looking for no-nonsense, expert-led diving, these are your people.
