HADIB OR HARDEEP - Koh Tao

Hadib, or Hardeep as some call her, is our favourite wreck on Koh Tao, hands down. We love the history here, supposedly torpedoed during WW2. She sits upright at 23 metres, a proper steamship with real character. Dropping down, the first thing you notice is the sheer scale. The bow points out into the blue, and the stern section is still largely intact, allowing for some great swim-throughs into the cargo holds. Inside, the light filters through gaps in the decaying metal, illuminating schools of glassfish that swirl in unison, making the interior feel alive. Giant groupers often lurk in the shadows, and we’ve seen marble rays gliding silently over the deck, searching for a meal. Look closely at the superstructure and you’ll find nudibranchs crawling across the encrusted metal. The engine room is largely collapsed, but the sheer bulk of the machinery is still impressive. It’s a site that rewards multiple dives. The currents can pick up here, so we always suggest checking the conditions before you go.
