Hin Pee Wee - Koh Tao

Hin Pee Wee is a site we always make time for when we’re on Koh Tao, especially for those early morning dives. It’s a series of granite boulders, big and small, creating swim-throughs and little caverns that are just begging to be explored. We love dropping down into the natural amphitheater on the eastern side, often finding a blacktip reef shark cruising through the cooler currents there. Look closely in the cracks and you'll spot blennies darting back into their holes, or a cheeky barbeled leatherjacket trying to blend in with the rocks. Visibility here can vary, but even on a slightly murkier day, the way the light filters through the gaps in the rocks is pretty magical. The staghorn coral patches are slowly recovering, and the brain corals are massive, giving plenty of hiding spots for the resident rock cod and coral groupers. Our favourite part is navigating the tight squeeze on the western side, often bumping into schools of golden rabbitfish that don’t seem to mind us at all. It’s a pretty easy dive, suitable for most experience levels, as long as you’re comfortable finning through some tighter spaces. It’s a great spot for photographers keen on capturing the light play or macro enthusiasts who love hunting for the smaller stuff.
