Rainbow Fish Divers on Koh Tao is a site we keep coming back to. We love it for the sheer volume of small, colourful reef fish, making it a fantastic spot for macro photography and just soaking in the details. You’ll spend most of your dive in the shallows, maybe 8-12 metres, drifting along the sand patches and coral bommies. Look closely, and you’ll find blennies popping in and out of their holes, particularly the banded blenny, always good for a chuckle. Our favourite time to dive here is mid-morning, just after the first rush of boats, when the light hits the water at a nice angle. You'll see schools of blue and gold fusiliers and banded blue sprats reflecting the light, almost overwhelming the reef in flashes of silver and yellow. Clown tangs graze along the coral, and we often spot a longnose butterflyfish poking into crevices. It's not a deep dive, nor is it about big pelagics. Instead, Rainbow Fish Divers is about slowing down, appreciating the smaller, intricate movements of the reef. It's a great spot for newer divers, or anyone who just wants a relaxing, vibrant dive without strong currents or complex navigation.
