U&I Place - Koh Tao

U&I Place feels like one of Koh Tao’s best-kept secrets, tucked away from the main dive boat routes. We love it for its quiet charm and the sheer volume of schooling fish that congregate here. Drop down and you’re often enveloped by shimmering curtains of Banded Blue Sprat and Herring Scad, so thick you can barely see your buddy. It's an incredible sensory experience, the light dappling through the fish as they move as one. Keep an eye out for the resident Blue-finned Rock Cod, they’re usually quite bold, letting you get a good look. We’ve also had some fantastic encounters with Grey Sweetlips cruising by. The site is gentle, perfect for those days when you want a relaxed dive with consistent, engaging activity rather than big pelagics. Our favourite trick is to go late morning, after the general rush has subsided; the fish seem calmer then, too. It’s a site that rewards slow, observant diving, letting the schools swirl around you.
