Hoa Mai 68 - Nha Trang

The Hoa Mai 68 wreck isn't deep, topping out at 8m, which makes it remarkably accessible. What we love about this site is its story. This isn't some ancient galleon, but a modern vessel, a fishing boat that sank in 2005. Its relatively recent demise means the wreck is largely intact, with much of the superstructure still present, offering easy swim-throughs into the wheelhouse and cargo hold. You can still make out the outline of the boat, which is satisfying. Visibility here can vary, but on a good day, the light plays beautifully through the openings, illuminating the schools of glassfish that shimmer inside. We often spot lionfish perched on the deck rails, and nudibranchs grazing on the encrusting corals that are slowly reclaiming the metal. It’s not a massive wreck, but there’s enough to explore for a solid 40-minute dive, especially if you’re keen on photography or just want a relaxed potter about. For newer divers, it’s a fantastic introduction to wreck diving without the usual depth or current concerns.
