What we love about this site is the sheer scale of the tragedy it represents, now beautifully reclaimed by the ocean. Diving it, you're not just looking at metal; you're feeling the weight of the past. Visibility can swing a bit here, so we always suggest checking local conditions before heading out. When it's good, you can make out the ship’s fragmented structure, the timbers long gone, leaving behind iron ribs and plating. These skeletal remains are now home to a surprising number of species. We’ve spotted New Zealand Draughtboard Sharks tucked into crevices and the strange, delicate fronds of Neptune's necklace swaying with the surge. Snapper cruise the periphery, often curious. It’s a site that suits divers with a real appreciation for history and a keen eye for finding life in unexpected places. Exploring the scattered debris field, it’s easy to imagine the ship in its prime, then the chaos of its demise. This isn't a deep penetration wreck, but the sprawling nature of the site means there’s plenty to explore, even if it's just poking around the scattered fragments for nudibranchs and anemones.
