Ray of Hope (Wreck) - Andros

The Ray of Hope, a 60-metre freighter, sits upright on the sand at a mellow 20 metres. We love this wreck because it’s so accessible, perfect for divers just getting into wrecks, but still intriguing enough for those with a few under their belt. It’s got a great story too, deliberately sunk in the late 1980s as an artificial reef, so it’s been down there long enough for marine life to really move in. You can easily swim through the cargo holds, where shafts of sunlight cut through the openings, creating these really cool, ethereal beams. Inside, we often find schools of silversides swirling around, and the occasional nurse shark taking a nap under a deck. Look closely at the deck for moray eels poking their heads out of crevices, and we’ve seen some hefty groupers lurking in the deeper shadows too. It’s a very calm dive, rarely any current to speak of, so you can take your time exploring all the nooks and crannies. Our favourite bit is exploring the bow, it’s just so dramatic.
