Margate Bay - Klein Bonaire

Margate Bay holds a special place for us on Klein Bonaire. It’s one of those sites where the sheer density of small, interesting stuff makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into a busy apartment complex for fish. We love drifting along here, keeping an eye out for the tiny Bluegold Gobies darting into their burrows, or a clever Puffcheek Blenny perched just so. The reef starts fairly shallow, then slopes gently, which makes it a really relaxed dive. Our favourite thing about Margate Bay is how often we spot juvenile hawksbill turtles, sometimes just chilling in the turtle grass, completely unfazed. If you’re into macro, this is definitely one to add to your list; the Mouse Cones and Night Dove Snails are often out and about, and the Fire Coral pops with colour. It’s a site that rewards slow diving, so take your time, hover, and let the details unfold around you.
