Oil Slick Leap - Klein Bonaire

Oil Slick Leap, we’ve found, is one of those sites that just works, whether you’re easing into a Bonaire trip or winding down. You park up, jump in off the concrete platform, and you’re immediately enveloped by that gentle Bonairean blue. We love how easy it is to navigate, making it perfect for a relaxed dive, maybe a long safety stop, or even some freediving. The reef here starts shallow, sloping down to about 20 metres or so. We’ve always seen something interesting right from the entry – those rusty gobies are masters of disguise against the mustard hill and boulder brain corals. Keep an eye out for the smaller stuff too, like the puffcheek blennies and the delicate Antilles glass-slugs tucked into crevices. Parrotfish are constantly munching away, and if you’re patient, you might spot a chain moray peeking from its hideaway. It’s a great spot for macro enthusiasts without sacrificing the bigger picture. We’d suggest going early in the morning, before the day boats arrive, when the light really plays on the coral. You get a nice, quiet entry and often have the place to yourself.
