Windjammer - Klein Bonaire

The Windjammer wreck, just off Klein Bonaire, is one of our favourite dives when we’re looking for a bit of history with our reef fix. It’s a 19th-century sailing ship, sunk by fire, and what’s left is a truly atmospheric jumble of timbers and ballast stones scattered across a sandy slope. We love seeing how the reef has just swallowed parts of it; Boulder Brain Coral anchors itself firmly, and you’ll often spot a Hawksbill Turtle resting amongst the wreckage. Dropping in, you're immediately struck by the sheer scale of the debris field. You can spend a whole dive just meandering through the scattered remains, looking for the tell-tale shapes of what was once a grand vessel. We’ve found Pearl Blennies darting in and out of crevices, and the Bluestriped Grunts gather in thick schools around the larger sections. Keep an eye out for a big Tiger Grouper often lurking in the shadows. It’s a truly relaxing dive, rarely any current, perfect for an extended bottom time just exploring the forgotten corners.
