Disneyworld - Grand Cayman

Josefa Island is our pick when you want a mellow dive in Arraial. It’s shallow, maxing out at about 8 metres, which means great bottom time and good light penetration. We love the feeling of drifting along the costão, the rocky shore, where sponges explode with colour and small, vibrant fish dart between the nooks. You’ll see plenty of Barber fish, Atlantic Spadefish often school up, and we always spot a few Brazilian wrasse. Visibility averages around 6 metres here, so it’s not for wide-angle photographers, but it makes the smaller details pop. It’s perfect for new divers or anyone looking for a relaxed experience. The current is usually gentle, making it a comfortable drift. Keep an eye out for the bright red anemones and their resident Kinglet rock shrimp – a favourite macro subject of ours. For a shallow dive, there's a surprising amount of activity, with Dusky groupers often lurking in the shadows.
