VERONICA L - Southwest Coast

The Veronica L, sitting upright at 19m, feels like a proper shipwreck. She’s not massive, just over 30 meters long, but what she lacks in size, she makes up for in character. Sunk back in '93, this old carrier started leaking at anchor until her pumps finally gave out. You can still see the cargo holds, now home to clouds of glassfish, shimmering in the shafts of light that pierce the deck. We love exploring the bridge area, where barracuda often hang motionless, watching you with that unnerving stare. What we really appreciate about the Veronica L is how completely she's been taken over by the reef. The metalwork is encrusted with sponges and soft corals, providing shelter for moray eels and lobsters tucked into every crevice. Our pick for the best time to dive her is late morning, when the sun is high, really illuminating the deck and making those glassfish pop. It's a relaxed dive, suitable for most experience levels, and honestly, a great spot for photographers who want to capture that classic wreck shot with plenty of marine life. Just watch for the occasional mild current; it usually just adds a little extra drama.
