MIRON L - Turneffe Atoll

The Miron L, a motor vessel, sits upright at 42 metres, a proper deep wreck for those who love their history. We’ve found it’s less about penetration here and more about the atmosphere of the ship itself. Its superstructure is still largely intact, a skeletal frame draped in sponges and soft corals. As you descend, the sheer size begins to reveal itself, and you can really appreciate the work of the ocean claiming it back. Schools of horse-eye jacks often circle the mast, creating a shimmering vortex, and we’ve often spotted eagle rays cruising by in the blue, just off the bow. It’s a site for experienced divers comfortable with depth and perhaps a little current, which can sometimes sweep through. Our favourite part is lingering over the bridge area, imagining its final moments. Keep an eye out for green moray eels tucked into the engine room, and the occasional nurse shark resting on the sand nearby. We think it’s best done as a first dive of the day, giving you plenty of bottom time to take it all in before the nitrogen really starts to add up.
