COMPASS ROSE - Kadavu & Great Astrolabe Reef

Compass Rose isn't your typical wreck dive, and that’s why we love it. Forget deep, dark penetration. This German yacht, sunk back in ‘81, sits in such shallow water you can practically snorkel it. We’re talking three or four metres at most, a proper sun-drenched playground. The shallow depth means the light is always incredible, painting the wreck in blues and greens. The boat itself is a skeletal beauty, draped in soft corals. You’ll find parrotfish grazing on the hull, their colours popping against the rusted metal. Look for the schooling bannerfish that flit in and out of the cabin structure, and we’ve often spotted small reef sharks cruising lazily around the stern. It's a fantastic spot for photographers, especially wide-angle, with sunlight streaming through the mast. A perfect second dive or even a checkout dive if you’re getting back in the water.
