Root Canal - Kadavu & Great Astrolabe Reef

Root Canal delivers on its name, but in the best way. This is a crack in the reef, a narrow canyon that you swim through at around 18-20m. It’s tight in places, maybe a meter or so wide, and that’s part of the fun – feeling the reef close in overhead before it opens up again. We’ve seen white tip reef sharks napping in the sandy bottom of the deeper sections and plenty of reef fish sheltering in the nooks. It’s a fun, slightly adventurous dive for those comfortable with overhead environments and intermediate buoyancy.
