Peliliu Corner - Rock Islands

Peliliu Corner is one of those dives that sticks with you, often for its sheer, exhilarating chaos. We love it, but you need to be ready for it. This isn't a drift; it’s a full-on current ride, where you hook in and watch the show. Below you, grey reef sharks patrol the blue, their movements effortless against the rush of water. Look closer at the reef wall itself, and you’ll spot huge schools of big long-nosed butterflyfish darting between the corals, sometimes so thick they almost obscure the vibrant patches of strawberry grouper and blue trim parrotfish. We've often seen dusky farmerfish holding their ground against currents that would rip a less determined fish right off the reef. The secret to Peliliu Corner is timing. Dive it at the right tidal exchange, and the current is manageable, a fast drift with thrilling action. Hit it wrong, and it’s a struggle. Our advice? Always go with an experienced local guide who knows the tides intimately. Find a good hook-in point, settle in, and let the ocean bring the show to you. You'll see squadrons of grey sharpnose sharks cruise by, and if you’re lucky, a slender snake eel poking its head from a crevice. It’s a dive for those who enjoy a bit of adrenaline with their reef observation.
