With 203+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, giant moray eels, lionfish, nautiluses and pufferfish - Matrix offers some of Rabaul & New Britain's richest reef diving. Water ranges 30-31°C, warmest January, February, May.
The Matrix site, just off Rabaul, offers a look at a sunken Japanese landing craft. It's an easy dive, sitting in shallow water, making it accessible for newer divers or those looking for a relaxed second dive. We’ve seen small reef sharks here, along with a resident school of batfish that often hangs around the wreck structure. It’s a good spot to combine with a deeper wreck dive in the area.
