Udo Island - Jeju Island

Udo Island is our pick for a really different kind of diving in South Korea. Forget your usual tropical colours; here it's all about dramatic volcanic rock formations, with swim-throughs and small caves that feel wild and untamed. We love the feeling of the temperate water, cool and invigorating, and the way the light filters through the kelp forests, creating these shifting patterns on the seabed. Keep an eye out for Japanese stargazers half-buried in the sand, just their eyes peeking out, and the flash of black-tipped silver-biddies darting through the rocks. The smooth hammerhead sightings are rare, but they do happen, which adds a real buzz. We’d suggest going in late spring or early autumn for the best visibility, often around 15-20 metres, and calmer surface conditions. It's a genuinely unique experience, perfect for divers who appreciate dramatic scenery and a touch of the unexpected.
