TRIUMPH ACE - Northeast Coast

The Triumph Ace is a bit of a local secret, and we think it’s one of the most underrated shore dives on Taiwan's Northeast Coast. What makes it special? It’s a proper wreck, a carrier vessel that went down back in ‘77, now sitting shallow enough that you can practically reach out and touch it from the surface. We love that it’s accessible to just about anyone; maxing out at 4 metres, it's a perfect spot for newer divers to experience a wreck without the usual depth anxiety. When you drop in, the first thing you notice is how the wreck dominates the seascape. Hull plates, twisted metal, and the ghostly outline of its structure are all there, colonised by a surprising amount of life given its shallow depth. We’ve seen schools of juvenile snapper darting through the broken sections and nudibranchs clinging to the rust-coloured beams. It’s not a site for big pelagics, but for macro enthusiasts and wreck lovers who appreciate a bit of history, it’s our favourite pick. Try to time your dive for slack tide on a calm day; the visibility can really pop, letting you appreciate the sheer scale of the wreck from bow to stern.
