Wreck of Arromanches - Northeast Coast

The Wreck of Arromanches, lying off Taiwan’s northeast coast, isn't just a dive site, it’s a history lesson encased in rust. We love the sheer scale of the place; it’s a Colossus-class aircraft carrier, for goodness sake, sunk in 1943. Dropping down, the first thing you notice is the way the light filters through the superstructure, creating these dramatic shafts. You’ll weave through massive hanger decks, imagining planes once stored there, now home to schools of fusiliers and the occasional grouper lurking in the shadows. Look for the massive anchor chain still largely intact, a real testament to its past life. Currents here can be lively, so it’s best for experienced divers comfortable with drift. Our favourite part is exploring the bridge area, even with its decay, you get a sense of the sheer power of this vessel. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs clinging to the metalwork and lionfish patrolling the deeper sections. It’s a site that rewards multiple visits; there’s always a new corner to peek into, a different angle to appreciate the ship's slow surrender to the sea.
