YEOU MAW - Northeast Coast

The *Yeou Maw* isn’t just a wreck; it’s an accidental art installation. Sunk back in ’86, this old fishing vessel rests upright on the sand at 48 metres, pretty deep for the Northeast Coast. We think its depth is part of its allure, though – fewer divers, more time to appreciate the calm. You drop down onto the wheelhouse, which is still largely intact, then glide along the deck. The currents here can be a bit shifty, so we always plan our dive for slack tide. We love how the hull is encrusted with hard corals, bright orange and purple, making it a fantastic wide-angle shot. Look closely into the holds, and you’ll often spot moray eels peering out, or the shy leopard wrasse darting between the metal plates. The sheer scale of it, standing so proudly on the seabed, is what makes it a standout for us. It suits advanced divers comfortable with depth and who appreciate a wreck that feels more like a living reef than a ghost ship.
