Ocean-Pro Mirihi - South Ari Atoll
The team at Ocean-Pro Mirihi are the kind of patient, enthusiastic instructors you always hope for. They genuinely love showing off their local sites, and that makes a huge difference to the whole experience. We particularly appreciate their focus on smaller groups, which means less fin-kicking chaos and more relaxed exploring. This is a brilliant choice if you’re keen on a more intimate dive experience, especially if you’re bringing a new diver or just want to shake off some rust. South Ari Atoll is famous for whale sharks, and Mirihi's location puts you right in the sweet spot for encounters, particularly during the southwest monsoon from May to December. We've had incredible drifts along the outer reef at Ranveli Thila, feeling that satisfying pull of the current as white-tip reef sharks cruise below. Then there are the pinnacles, or *giris*, like Five Rocks, where we’ve watched schools of fusiliers so thick they momentarily block out the sun, only to part for a passing eagle ray. They also do night dives at their house reef, which is surprisingly active with nurse sharks and octopuses after dark – definitely worth doing if you’ve got a free evening. We always suggest chatting with the dive masters the day before to get their read on conditions; they’re usually spot on with predictions for visibility and current.
