With 100+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, sea turtles, spinner dolphins and whale sharks - Banana reef offers some of South Malé Atoll's richest reef diving. Water ranges 29-30°C, warmest April, May, July.
Banana Reef offers a horseshoe-shaped coral formation, sheltering a lagoon often calm enough for newer divers. We've seen plenty of reef sharks cruising the outer edges, along with schools of snapper and fusiliers hanging around the overhangs. The reef top in the shallower sections is good for spotting turtles and smaller reef fish. It’s a solid Maldivian dive, reliable for a pleasant drift.
