Offshore Africa Pomene - Tofo & Inhambane
The team at Offshore Africa Pomene are a solid choice if you’re looking to get away from the busiest spots in Tofo and experience something a little wilder. They’re PADI 5-star, running all the usual courses, but it’s the location that really sells it for us. Pomene is remote, a long drive north of Inhambane, and that means fewer boats, fewer divers, and a real sense of adventure on every outing. We love the feeling of launching from a deserted beach, the sand soft underfoot, the engine starting with a cough before you punch out through the small swell. Our favourite dives here are the deep reefs, places like The Arches, where huge potato bass hang in the swim-throughs and the schooling barracuda can be so thick you lose sight of your buddy for a moment. Visibility is usually great, often pushing 30 metres, and the current can pick up, so it's best for confident divers. Go early for the calmest conditions, before the afternoon wind kicks in. This is raw Mozambican diving, less polished than Tofo, and all the better for it.
