With 269+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, blue whales, dolphins, dwarf minke whales and great white sharks - Buffels Bay offers some of Cape Town & Western Cape's richest reef diving. Water ranges 14-16°C, warmest February, March, April.
Buffels Bay offers a relaxed shore dive, ideal for those looking for an easy entry in calmer conditions. It's a solid spot for spotting small reef fish and the occasional octopus tucked amongst the kelp. Visibility can be a bit variable here, so we'd suggest picking a day with minimal swell. It's a good choice for newer divers or for a relaxed second dive.
