With 269+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, blue whales, dolphins, dwarf minke whales and great white sharks - ROCKEATER offers some of Cape Town & Western Cape's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 14-16°C, warmest February, March, April.
Dropping onto the Rockeater is always interesting. This old rock drilling vessel was scuttled intentionally, so it sits upright at 30 meters, a real purpose-built fish haven. We’ve found the swim-throughs on the upper decks are easy enough, even with the surge that can sometimes pick up here. Expect to see shy cat sharks tucked into the crevices and schooling yellowtail often circle the mast, especially if there’s a bit of current running. It's a great site for divers comfortable with depth and a bit of movement, offering a solid wreck experience without being overly complex.
