Why dive here
With 269+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, blue whales, dolphins, dwarf minke whales and great white sharks - Sunny Cove offers some of Cape Town & Western Cape's richest reef diving. Water ranges 14-16°C, warmest February, March, April.
Sunny Cove sits in False Bay, a reliable shore entry for many Cape Town divers. The reef here, largely kelp-covered, runs down to about 12 metres. You’ll typically find pyjama sharks tucked into crevices and a good number of puffadder shysharks among the fronds. It's a solid choice for a calm local dive, particularly when the south-easterly wind picks up.
Safety Notes
Cold water this month (avg 15°C). Drysuit or thick wetsuit (7mm+) recommended.
