With 558+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, blacktip reef sharks, blue sharks, blue-spotted stingrays and bull sharks - Mavericks offers some of Sodwana Bay's richest diving. Water ranges 23-28°C, warmest January, February, March.
Mavericks sits at 25m, a good spot for intermediate divers looking for a relaxed bottom time. It’s mostly sand and rubble, but you’ll often find rays tucked into the sand and various reef fish darting around the small coral bommies. We’ve seen a good range of nudibranchs here too, so keep an eye out for the smaller stuff. It’s a gentle drift, suitable for divers who prefer a slower pace.
