With 558+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, blacktip reef sharks, blue sharks, blue-spotted stingrays and bull sharks - Riana’s Arch offers some of Sodwana Bay's richest cave diving. Water ranges 23-28°C, warmest January, February, March.
Riana's Arch sits around 25 metres deep, a natural cut-through in the reef that’s more of an overhang and swim-through than a full cave. We usually find it’s a good spot for intermediate divers comfortable with overhead environments, but it’s really quite open. You’ll cruise through, light filtering from both ends, often spotting sleeping white-tip reef sharks tucked into the sand inside. Keep an eye out for colourful nudibranchs on the walls as you pass; the low light seems to make their colours pop even more. It’s a nice, calm dive, a change of pace from some of Sodwana’s more current-swept outer reefs.
