EVDOKIA II - Istria Peninsula

The EVDOKIA II is one of our favourite wreck dives in Istria. She’s a decent sized cargo ship, sitting upright at 23m, and really quite intact considering her dramatic sinking in a thick fog back in ‘91. You feel that history as you descend, the sheer bulk of her emerging from the blue. We love exploring the bow section, where the anchor chain still dangles, and swimming over the cargo holds, which are now open to the sky. This isn’t a delicate wreck; it’s a robust, industrial structure, now colonised by nature. Schools of small fish dart in and out of the superstructure, and we’ve spotted conger eels peeking from darker crevices around the engine room. Keep an eye on the deck for scorpionfish, they blend in incredibly well. The visibility here can be excellent, especially in late spring, making it easy to appreciate her scale. It’s a great dive for anyone comfortable at 20m, offering a satisfying sense of exploration without being overly challenging.
