DIMITRIOS II - Paphos & Coral Bay

The Dimitrios II wreck off Paphos is one of those sites we always recommend for a relaxed afternoon dip, especially if you’re looking for something a bit different. This cargo ship, beached since 1998, sits so shallow you can almost touch it from the surface. It’s a proper playground for snorkelers and freedivers, but still a fun, easy dive for tanks, mostly because you can spend ages just cruising around its broken remains without worrying about depth or deco. We love how the superstructure, particularly the bridge, is still largely intact above the water. Below, the hull has really opened up, creating these cool swim-throughs where you'll find clouds of damselfish and small groups of wrasse darting between the rusty plates. On a sunny day, the light plays through the gaps in the metal, making patterns on the sandy seabed, and the water is often calm enough that you get some really clear views of the prop shaft and rudder. It's not a deep dive, maxing out at about three metres, so you can take your time, poke around, and soak in the history of this accidental resident. Our favourite spot is hovering just outside the engine room, watching the resident octopus peek out from the shadows.
