BREDERODE - Bornholm

Diving the Brederode off Bornholm feels like stepping into a historical canvas, albeit a submerged one. This 17th-century Dutch battleship, sunk in 1658, now rests at a very accessible 10 meters. We find it’s less about intact structure and more about the historical scattering across the seabed – cannons, timber, and the general outline of a significant vessel. Visibility can be a bit variable here; expect around 5-10 meters on a good day, which still allows for a decent exploration of the wreck's footprint. It’s a site that rewards a slow, methodical search, particularly for those who appreciate military history and finding those smaller, often overlooked artifacts colonised by local crabs and small flatfish. Definitely one for the wreck enthusiasts who like a shallow, relaxed dive.
