DANNEBROGE - Bornholm

The Dannebroge wreck off Bornholm is one of those sites that just has character, even at a shallow twelve metres. It’s not about huge pelagics here, but rather a proper dive into history. We love that you can spend a whole no-deco dive just circling the main structure, picking out details. The bow still points proudly north, and the stern section, while more broken up, offers fantastic little nooks. This isn’t a warm-water dive, so good drysuit skills are a plus, but the visibility can be genuinely surprising on a calm summer’s day. We've seen it push past fifteen metres, letting the light really penetrate the structure. Keep an eye out for the resident cod, often lurking in the shadow of a bulkhead, or a grumpy lumpfish tucked into a crevice. It’s a photographer's playground, especially for wide-angle shots that capture the scale of the wreck against the clear water. For anyone who appreciates maritime history and the slow reclamation of steel by the sea, the Dannebroge is a true standout.
