DRONNING DAGMAR - Bornholm

The Dronning Dagmar, sitting in just 6m off Bornholm, is one of those wrecks that just screams history. It’s not a deep dive, obviously, but what it lacks in depth, it makes up for in atmosphere. We love how the shallow depth lets the light play over the wreck, highlighting every rivet and timber. You’re really diving into a piece of the past here. The Dagmar, a cargo ship that ran aground in 1948, is still surprisingly intact, especially the bow section. We’ve spent many a dive just poking around the hold, imagining the cargo, and watching the local cod population cruise through. They’re pretty bold here, often coming right up to your mask. Visibility can be a bit variable, but even on a slightly murkier day, the wreck looms out of the green, which honestly just adds to its spooky charm. Our favourite is exploring the collapsed mast structure, where you often find scorpionfish tucked away. It’s a gentle dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who just wants to spend time absorbing the feel of a historical wreck without the pressure of deep water. Just watch out for fishing lines, a common sight on many shallow wrecks.
