HALSTNBEK (POSSIBLY) - Bornholm

The *Halstnbek* is a favourite of ours when we're diving Bornholm. This carrier, down since 1961, rests upright at 49 metres. We love the way she sits, fully intact, with her mast still reaching skyward from the seabed. You can swim through the holds, imagining her last voyage from Eckernförde, and we always pause to reflect on the one life lost during that heavy weather sinking. What you'll find here is a dark, dramatic wreck dive. The visibility can be tricky, but on a good day, the structure emerges from the gloom, a silhouette against the slightly brighter surface. Crabs scuttle in the shadows, and we’ve seen some decent cod hiding out in the more protected sections. It’s a dive for those comfortable with depth and colder water, not for beginners, but the sense of history is palpable. Our tip? Bring a good light, and a backup. You’ll want to poke into every corner of this old girl.
