HAVFRUEN - Bornholm

Havfruen is a wreck site for those who appreciate history as much as the diving itself. We’re talking about the remains of a German U-boat, scuttled during WWII, and now resting upright in a shallow 9 metres of water. It’s not a site for big pelagics, but rather an atmospheric dive, best on a sunny day when light shafts pierce the water. You’ll find the submarine heavily encrusted, a real testament to how quickly the sea reclaims things. Look closely, and you’ll spot a surprising number of blennies and gobies tucked into every nook and cranny. For photographers, the torpedo tubes make for a particularly striking shot, especially with a wide-angle lens. Our advice? Go early to avoid any other groups, and bring a good torch to peer into the more shadowed sections. This spot really comes alive when you’re the only divers there, just you and the silent history.
