HERCULES - Bornholm

Hercules isn't just a wreck, it's a piece of working history resting on the seabed off Bornholm. This old dredger, sunk in 1990, lies upright at a comfortable 18 metres, making it approachable for most divers comfortable with cold water. We love how the machinery is still so apparent, a tangible link to its past life – the massive dredging arm reaching out, buckets still attached, looking like it just took a dive of its own. Entering the wheelhouse gives you a real sense of being inside the vessel, rather than just hovering over it. Look for the schools of cod that patrol the decks, often darting between the metal structures, and the occasional lumpfish tucked into crevices. The visibility here can be decent, especially in late summer, but it’s the character of the wreck itself that truly stands out. Our tip: bring a good torch; the nooks and crannies hold the most interesting details and resident critters. It's a great dive for anyone who appreciates the industrial beauty of a working ship now surrendered to the sea.
