INGEBORG - Bornholm

We love diving the wrecks around Bornholm, and the Ingeborg is a prime example of why. She’s a fishing vessel, went down in 1964, and now sits upright on a sandy bottom at 22 metres. There’s something quite poignant about her, a working boat caught in time, but the sea has absolutely reclaimed her. What really gets us is how the wreck itself has become a living reef. You’ll weave through schools of cod sheltering in the holds, their dark eyes watching you pass. The deck structure is intact enough to offer plenty of exploration, and we’ve spent many a dive peeking into the wheelhouse, imagining the last moments. Look closely for flatfish camouflaged on the sand nearby, and the occasional curious seal has been known to drop by, especially in the quieter seasons. It’s a dive for those who appreciate history and the slow, powerful embrace of nature. Dive it on a calm day for the best visibility, but even with a bit of chop, the Ingeborg holds her charm.
