J P SUHR - Bornholm

The J P SUHR wreck on Bornholm is one of those sites that just grabs you, even at a shallow 13 metres. We love how accessible it is, making it a great option for newer divers or those who just want a relaxed, longer bottom time. What you’ll find down there is the hull of a wooden schooner, split but remarkably intact in sections. As you descend, the structure starts to resolve out of the green, flat seabed. We’ve often seen schools of cod hanging around the timbers, drifting lazily as you approach. The bow section is our favourite, with its elegant curve still defined, and the stern offers a glimpse into the ship's last moments. Look closely, and you’ll spot a surprising number of flatfish nestled in the sand around the wreck, perfectly camouflaged. We always find ourselves lingering, peering into the shadows cast by the timbers, imagining the schooner sailing these waters. It’s a quiet, reflective dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who appreciates maritime history. The current is usually negligible here, making it an easy drift around the broken hull.
