JOHANNES L - Bornholm

The Johannes L, resting in a mere three metres of water off Bornholm, is one of our absolute favourites for a lazy, shallow exploration. We love how accessible this wreck is, practically inviting you to spend an hour just circling her, noticing new details each time. She’s a motor vessel, went down in '79, and even after all these years, you can still trace the outline of her deckhouse, the anchor chain, and even the prop. What really sells the Johannes L is the light. Sunbeams slice through the water, illuminating patches of the wreck and the shoals of small fish that dart in and out of her remains. It’s a photographer's dream on a sunny day, with the rust colours contrasting against the blue. You’ll spot crabs scuttling over the hull plates and anemones clinging to any upright surface. This is a perfect site for snorkelers, freedivers, or anyone wanting a relaxed dive without the pressure of depth or currents. We always feel like we’re poking around a secret history lesson out here.
