JYLLAND - Bornholm

The Jylland wreck, lying just off Bornholm, is a proper slice of history. It’s not a deep dive, sitting at about 10 metres, so it’s accessible for a lot of divers looking for something a bit different. What we love about the Jylland is its skeletal nature; you can trace the hull, see where the deck once was, and imagine the old ship still sailing. It’s a dangerous wreck, officially, which means you need to respect it, but the open structure lets light filter through, catching the shoals of small fish that dart between the frames. You’ll spend your dive weaving through the ribs of the ship, often spotting crabs scuttling amongst the growth. The visibility can swing a bit here, so we always check conditions before heading out, but on a good day, the details of the wreck really pop. We’d suggest going early if you can manage it; the morning light tends to be best, making the wreck glow a little. For anyone who enjoys a bit of history with their dive, and a chance to really explore a wreck’s character rather than just swim past it, the Jylland is a fantastic option.
