LAEGTEREN - Bornholm

Laegteren isn't about deep dives or dramatic drop-offs, and that's precisely why we love it. At a maximum of 11 metres, this isn't a dive where you're watching your computer constantly. It's an old fishing boat, likely scuttled or sunk many decades ago, now completely colonised by the Baltic Sea. We've visited Laegteren several times, and each time it feels a bit different. The visibility can be temperamental, but on a good day, sunlight filters through the green water, illuminating the wreck's ribs. You can trace its outline, see the old engine block, and imagine its working life. Small cod often shelter in the crevices, and we’ve seen some surprisingly large flatfish camouflaged on the sand nearby. It’s a gentle exploration, perfect for divers who appreciate history and the slow reclamation of man-made objects by nature. We’d suggest going on a calm morning; the lack of surge really lets you settle in and absorb the atmosphere. It’s our favourite kind of wreck dive, no heroics needed, just quiet contemplation.
