MARIE KE 99 - Bornholm

The Marie Ke 99 offers a proper peek into Bornholm’s maritime past, lying in just 12 metres of water. We love a wreck that tells a story, and this old cutter, sunk back in '68, has settled nicely into the seabed, now a fascinating artificial reef. You’ll find the wreck largely intact, with parts of the superstructure still holding shape, inviting exploration. It’s perfect for divers who enjoy poking around nooks and crannies, imagining the working life of the vessel. Visibility here can be surprisingly good on a calm day, letting you really appreciate the scale of it. Look for the way light filters through the water, illuminating the rust-coloured metal. We’ve seen respectable-sized cod lurking in the shadows of the wheelhouse, and schools of smaller fish dart in and out of the hold, treating it like a ready-made apartment complex. Our favourite detail? The way the kelp has begun to reclaim parts of the deck, swaying gently with the surge. It’s a comfortable dive, nothing too deep or challenging, making it a solid choice for anyone looking for an authentic wreck experience without the faff. Just be mindful of any current, it can pick up a bit, especially around the exposed sections.
