MAYLAND - Bornholm

Mayland, off Bornholm, isn't a deep dive, topping out at 10 metres, but it offers a genuinely engaging wreck experience. What we love about Mayland is its completeness. You can still make out the fishing vessel's original lines, with the mast stretching out, pointing towards the surface as if reaching for its former life. Swimming around the wheelhouse, we often spot a few resident cod lurking in the shadows, and the metalwork is thoroughly encrusted with anemones and hydroids, giving it a surprising pop of colour against the grey. It’s an easy dive, great for knocking off some bottom time without feeling rushed, and perfect for photographers wanting to capture an intact wreck without battling depth or current. Our favourite part? Peeking into the small compartments – you never know what shy crab or small fish you might disturb.
