MIKKEL NIELSEN - Bornholm

The *Mikkel Nielsen* is a proper piece of Bornholm history, and for us, it’s a dive that captures the island’s maritime soul. Lying upright in 36 metres, this fishing trawler feels like a snapshot from another era. We love how the wooden hull has aged, the planks still holding their shape, giving you a real sense of its past life. Dropping down onto the wheelhouse, you can practically feel the chill of the North Sea that she once plied. Head aft and you’ll find the winch and trawl doors, now home to a surprising number of wrasse and blennies darting in and out of the shadows. The bow offers a great opportunity for photographers, especially when the light filters down through the green water. Visibility here can swing a bit, so we’d suggest aiming for a calm day in late summer. It’s a dive for those who appreciate wrecks with a story, offering a quiet, contemplative exploration rather than a rush of big pelagics.
