MOTOROWIEC - Bornholm

MOTOROWIEC. Even the name sounds a bit grim, doesn't it? But don’t let that fool you. This wreck, resting at a polite 10 metres off Bornholm, is one of our favourites for a relaxed dive with a good story. We love that it’s so accessible, letting you spend ages just taking it all in, no rush, no deep deco stops. The wreck itself is pretty broken up, a freighter that clearly met a bad end, but you can still pick out the ribs of the hull and some of the machinery. What really gets us about Motorowiec, though, is how nature has reclaimed it. It's thick with mussels and anemones, like a fuzzy blanket, and the schools of small cod and blennies darting in and out of the crevices are always a delight. On a sunny day, the light filters through the green-blue water, making the whole scene glow. Our tip? Go when the sea is calm, you’ll get the best visibility, and really take your time exploring the nooks and crannies. It’s perfect for photographers or anyone who just wants to soak up the atmosphere of a wreck slowly being absorbed by the sea.
