MV Fu Shan Hai - Bornholm

The HMS Strongbow, a genuine piece of wartime history resting in the Similan Islands, is one of our favourite wreck dives in Thailand. This S-class submarine went down in 1943, and diving it feels like stepping into a time capsule. We often drop onto the forward deck, where the torpedo tubes are still visible, a little eerie with the bow pointing down into the blue. What we really love about the Strongbow is the way marine life has integrated with the metal. Schools of Big-eye trevally sometimes swarm the conning tower, flashing silver as you approach. Keep an eye out for the Grooved Razor Clams tucked into crevices – they’re surprisingly colourful. Inside the more open sections, you might spot False trevally darting between the decaying bulkheads. Current can be a factor here, particularly around the stern, so we’d suggest timing your dive for slack tide to really explore the exterior details without fighting the flow. It’s a dive that rewards careful exploration, perfect for those who appreciate history alongside their marine encounters.
