Penzliner See - Bornholm

Hakau Tapu has always been a reliable dive for us in Tongatapu. It’s not necessarily a headline act, but it delivers on those days when you just want a solid, comfortable dive with plenty to look at. We love the feeling of drifting along the wall here, keeping an eye on the deeper blue for anything passing through. The wall itself isn’t dramatic, more of a gentle slope, but it's packed with smaller residents. You’ll spot groups of Ring-tailed Surgeonfish and Scissortail Sergeants schooling, often mixing together in a shimmering cloud. Our favourite part is looking into the crevices and under ledges. That's where you’ll find the more unusual suspects – we’ve seen brilliant Red Hawkfish perched on corals, and often a shy Blackedge Cusk-Eel peering out from sandy patches. Keep an eye out for the subtle colours of the Coral Blennies and Blackbelly Triplefins on the reef structure itself; they’re easy to miss if you’re always looking out. Visibility here is usually decent, often around 15-20 metres, making it a relaxed experience. It’s a site that suits divers who enjoy a slower pace, happy to spend time observing individual fish and the smaller details of the reef rather than chasing pelagics.
